Wait...people at Notre Dame still drink beer?

Yeah, did anyone else know about this story? Last June Jimmy Clausen was cited by police for transporting alcohol as a minor. He was driving a 23 year-old friend to a liquor store when undercover cops on patrol (note to incoming Notre Dame freshmen: there are undercover police all over South Bend looking for underage drinkers, ESPECIALLY at tailgates. You have been warned) stopped him and issued him a citation. ESPN.com's headline has the word "arrest" in it, but I'm very certain that this wasn't an arrest, it was rather a citation, and that's a big difference. They ought to be careful with that when trying to grab readers.

But anyways, yeah, I'm surprised by this! First off, how does Clausen have a friend who's almost as old as I am in South Bend? (oh wait, he's a high-profile football player, maybe that explains some things). Second, and this is the fun part: was it Belmont Beverage or Discount Liquor that he went to? My money's on the Belmont, which is right next to the infamous Linebacker Inn (a hotspot for alumni on football weekends) and adored by underage students on every quad. That gives the story its charm.

It may not be a Tennessee football player getting caught with cocaine, but that shit doesn't happen at Notre Dame anyway.
